Brownies, or Brounie, is a Scottish domestic fairy. The Brownie is a shy tawny spirit of good natured elf that performs helpful services at night. Popular in Scottish and English folklore, Brownies inhabit houses and aid in tasks around the house. They are very shy, do not like to be seen and will only work at night when the residents are asleep. They preform these household chores in exchange for small gifts and food. They will abandon their house if they are spied upon, spoken of or if the gifts are called payments. Worse, if misused or treated cruely they will turn into Boggarts.
